I was a Division I track and Cross Country athlete in college at University of New Orleans (UNO). At UNO I majored in exercise physiology and studied nutrition. It was there I began doing exercise testing with a professor studying many populations including obese children. During my undergraduate studies I also worked at a sports and conditioning center performing exercise testing and designing training programs for many different populations. I trained a broad spectrum of athletes as well as assisted with training NFL and MLB players and the New Orleans Brass Hockey team. I had the experience of working with a number of competitive triathletes, 12 yr old nationally ranked gymnist, professional jockey, competitive wrestler, bodybuilder and geriatric populations. My experiences are not only with athletes but phase III cardiac rehab as well as other post surgery patients. I am presently assisting with a study through Johns Hopkins on the effects of pre and post exercise on abdominal surgery patients.
I have also worked in many physical therapy clinics including Johns Hopkins outpatient center. My experiences in physical therapy include working with the Orioles baseball players as well as rehabbing a number of overuse injuries.
My formal education continued at Goucher College where I received a Masters degree in athletic administration and worked with Cross-Country and Track and Field athletes. I contunued my experiences working with athletes at Towson University. At Towson I was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for 2 years and worked with 20 different sports teams on athletic development.
I have worked with individuals, sports teams and professional athletes in both endurance and power sports. I started doing physiological testing including Vo2 max, Blood Lactate and Resting Metabolic testing on many different populations in 2004. Testing athletes has become both a specialty and a passion of mine because I can relate to my clients. I presently compete in triathlons and have raced all distances including Best of the US olympic distance, Ironman Hawaii and Ironman China. I feel that I understand the desire to gain physiological insight to improve oneself and maximize the benefits of exercise time the most efficient and effective way possible.
